The Kwai Chung Hospital Phase 2 project involves redevelopment of a new campus offering comprehensive psychiatric in-patient, ambulatory, and community services. Itʼs the first Architectural Services Department's project in which MiMEP was implemented by the MEP subcontractor independently ofArchitectural Services Department's by a builder.
The team integrated a range of MiMEP modules—including combined MEP ceiling modules, trunking risers, pump sets, MCB boards etc.—exceeding contract requirements for added value.
Their strategy included Native BIM, mock-ups, off-site fabrication and precise on-site connections since 2019. Utilising Southaʼs ISO 9001 certified local fabrication yard significantly reduced cross-border logistics risks for this project, especially as most installation work took place during the COVID years.
Their approach focused on both on-site and off-site MiMEP planning, rigorous safety measures, and optimised installation sequencing. They also leverage innovative technologies like Openspace, Dalux, and QR code to enhance quality and progress monitoring.
The MiMEP approach improved sustainability, safety, cost efficiency, and project timelines.
