The Nina Tower project showcases Hong Kong’s first Zero-Carbon chiller system, delivering 24/7 cooling across a 180,000 m² mixed-use development with a capacity of 9,300 RT. With over 50% of building energy used by MVAC, the innovative will reduce the electricity consumption by over 50% compared with the existing system, equivalent to a reduction of 7,000 tonnes of carbon emissions a year.
To overcome logistical and time limitations, a MiMEP approach was adopted, combining 3D laser scanning, BIM modeling, modular prefabrication, and precision installation methods. Prefabricated plant modules ensured strict quality control, minimized on-site disruptions, and accelerated construction within the tight winter replacement window.
Through advanced planning, safe transportation, and seamless integration, the project successfully delivered highperformance, sustainable cooling while setting a new benchmark for green engineering in Hong Kong.
